Two Palestinians, including a three-year-old child, were killed on Sunday in an Israeli drone strike on a group of people west of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, according to medical sources cited by Palestinian media and Reuters.

The victims were identified as Hossam Nseir and Tim Saed Mahmoud Hamdan, three, medics said. Several other people were also injured in the strike near Akila Street, behind Al-Banna Bakery, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Reuters reported that the Israeli military said it had targeted a Hamas fighter in the area, without providing further details. The military's account did not explain the presence of the child or other people reported injured in the strike.

The strike came as Israeli attacks and gunfire continued in several parts of Gaza despite the ceasefire that took effect in October 2025.

Gaza medical sources said hospitals received five bodies and 14 injured Palestinians during the previous 24 hours. The overall reported Palestinian death toll since 7 October 2023 had reached 73,454, with 174,486 people injured, according to figures published by WAFA on Sunday.

In another incident, an elderly Palestinian woman was injured by Israeli army gunfire south of Khan Younis, according to WAFA. The agency said the circumstances and severity of her injuries were not immediately known.

On Saturday evening, a separate Israeli airstrike in the al-Amal neighbourhood west of Khan Younis killed one Palestinian and injured another, WAFA reported. The Nasser Medical Complex later said another Palestinian died from wounds sustained in an Israeli attack in the area.

The latest incidents add to continuing reports of Israeli strikes, drone attacks and gunfire across Gaza during the ceasefire period.
