Corrections Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
1. Our commitment
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it openly and quickly. We do not silently edit or delete published work to make an error disappear — the correction is part of the record.
Every correction states what was incorrect, what the accurate information is, and when the change was made.
2. How to report an error
Email info@gazatte.co with the word Correction in the subject line. Please include:
- The link to the article.
- The specific passage you believe is inaccurate.
- What you believe the accurate information is.
- Any source or evidence that supports it.
You can also reach us through the contact page.
3. What happens next
We aim to acknowledge every correction request within two business days. Straightforward factual errors are usually fixed the same day they are confirmed. Requests that require re-reporting take longer, and we will tell you if that is the case rather than leaving you without an answer.
4. How we label changes
Correction
When: A factual error that affects the meaning of the story — a wrong name, number, date, location or attribution.
What we do: The article is corrected and a dated correction note is appended explaining what was wrong and what it now says.
Clarification
When: The article was factually accurate but open to being misread, or omitted context a reader needed.
What we do: The wording is sharpened and a dated clarification note explains what was added or made clearer.
Retraction
When: The central claim of the piece cannot be supported.
What we do: The article is withdrawn. The URL continues to resolve and carries a retraction notice explaining the decision, so the record remains public.
5. Routine edits
Fixing a typo, a broken link or a formatting problem does not change the meaning of a story, and is made without a correction note. Anything that changes what the story says is labelled.
