1. Why we publish this
Readers are entitled to know who stands behind the journalism they read and who pays for it. This page sets out who owns Gazatte, where our money comes from, and the rules that keep those two things separate from editorial decisions.

3. How we are funded
Reader donations
One-off and recurring contributions from readers, collected through our support page. This is intended to be our primary source of funding.
Grants
Funding from foundations or press-freedom organisations. TO CONFIRM — list each grant-maker and the amount or share of revenue it represents.
Advertising
TO CONFIRM — state whether Gazatte carries advertising, and if so how advertisers are screened and how ads are labelled.

4. Editorial independence
No funder, donor, advertiser or commercial partner has any influence over what we cover, how we cover it, or when we publish. None receives advance sight of our reporting.
Editorial decisions rest with the newsroom. Where a story concerns one of our funders, we disclose that relationship in the article itself.
5. Disclosure
We publish the source of any single contribution that represents a significant share of annual revenue, other than individual reader donations, which are reported only in aggregate to protect donor privacy.
