Israeli strikes and gunfire killed seven people in Gaza on 8 October, including a woman and child in a residential building, the territory’s civil defence service said, according to AFP.
The Israeli military told the agency that three of those killed were members of armed groups. It said it was checking reports concerning the other four deaths.
The deaths were reported nearly a year after a ceasefire was declared in October 2025. Gaza’s health ministry says Israeli forces have killed at least 1,450 people in the territory since that announcement, according to AFP.
Six of the seven deaths reported on 8 October were in Gaza City. The civil defence service and Al-Shifa hospital said an Israeli drone struck a car on Al-Sinaa Street in the city’s south-west, killing two people and wounding others, according to Asharq Al-Awsat’s account of AFP reporting.
A separate drone strike killed one person and wounded others at a tent sheltering displaced people in the Al-Tawam area, north-west of the city, the same sources said.
The military told AFP that the people targeted in those two strikes were military operatives belonging to armed organisations.
Civil defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal told AFP that Israeli aircraft struck a residential building near Abdullah Azzam mosque in the Sabra neighbourhood, killing a woman and child and injuring others.
He also reported that Israeli artillery killed a woman near Al-Khazandar station in north-western Gaza City, and that Israeli gunfire killed another person south-east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.
The reported deaths coincided with a dispute over Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza. Israel’s military alleged that militants had used the hospital for military activity; Hamas denied the allegation, AFP reported.
Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency separately reported that the military said two people emerged from the hospital and that one planted explosives allegedly brought from inside. Anadolu said the army provided no evidence substantiating the alleged transfer of explosives or military use of the facility. Hamas rejected the claims as false, according to the agency.
