Five United Arab Emirates humanitarian aid convoys carrying 800 tonnes of supplies entered the Gaza Strip this week, according to the Emirates News Agency, as aid deliveries continue under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3.
The convoys comprised 75 trucks carrying shelter materials, food supplies and medical aid. The assistance is intended to support basic needs and humanitarian operations in Gaza.
The shipments were prepared through the UAE humanitarian aid logistics centre in Al Arish, northern Egypt. The centre handles the receipt, sorting, preparation and dispatch of aid before the convoys move towards Gaza, according to the UAE account.
The latest delivery follows a series of weekly UAE aid convoys. On 16 August, five convoys comprising 67 trucks carrying 683 tonnes of supplies were reported to have entered Gaza, with shelter materials and food among the cargo.
Earlier in August, five other UAE convoys carrying 74 trucks and 1,056 tonnes of food, shelter and medical assistance were reported to have entered the territory.
The UAE has been operating the Chivalrous Knight 3 programme as part of its humanitarian response to the Gaza crisis. The operation has used the Al Arish logistics centre to organise regular land deliveries into the territory.
The latest convoys come as Gaza continues to face severe humanitarian needs, with shortages affecting food, shelter, medical supplies and other essential services.
The 800 tonnes delivered this week add to the volume of assistance sent through the operation, although the figures refer to supplies transported in the latest five convoys and do not represent the total amount of UAE aid delivered to Gaza.
