Efforts led by regional and international mediators are intensifying to allow members of the Gaza Administration Committee to enter the Gaza Strip before Eid al-Adha, according to sources familiar with the negotiations.
The move is part of broader attempts to revive ceasefire talks and stabilize conditions inside Gaza after months of war and political deadlock. Egypt is reportedly preparing to host meetings with various factions of Fatah ahead of the movement’s upcoming conference in an effort to reorganize Palestinian political priorities and support the current diplomatic track.
Sources stressed that negotiations have continued despite the recent killing of Azzam al-Hayya, the son of senior Hamas negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, in an Israeli strike in Gaza City. The attack also killed Hamza al-Sharbasi, a field commander in the Qassam Brigades’ elite unit in Shujaiya.
