Recent developments indicate a significant shift in negotiations concerning the future of Gaza, as Hamas has agreed to discuss disarmament during the latest round of talks held in Cairo. This step is being viewed as a notable turning point in the negotiation process.
In an effort to allow this development to progress, the United States requested that Israel scale back its attacks on the Gaza Strip. The request specifically called for halting strikes outside what is referred to as the “yellow line,” except in cases of immediate threat to life. Despite Israel’s initial agreement, the situation on the ground reflected continued escalation, with 11 people killed between Wednesday and Thursday, including three children, in a strike targeting a mosque courtyard in Beit Lahia.
At the same time, Washington pushed for additional measures aimed at improving humanitarian conditions. These included increasing the number of aid trucks entering Gaza to 600 per day and raising the number of Gazans permitted to cross through the Rafah crossing to 150 individuals daily.
