Negotiations are expected to continue on Friday to finalize the wording of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement before it is presented to Israel through mediators for approval.

The eighth clause, concerning weapons, has yet to be fully resolved, but negotiators expect to finalize it during the next round of talks.

Under the proposed framework, a 14-day trial period would begin immediately after the agreement is announced. During that period, Israeli attacks across Gaza would cease entirely, along with any further expansion of the area known as the “Yellow Line.”

The proposal also calls for the entry of at least 600 humanitarian aid trucks, including no fewer than 50 carrying different types of fuel.

The parties’ compliance would be assessed throughout the trial period before an agreed timetable is established for the agreement’s full implementation.

Regarding weapons, the proposal would require heavy weapons to be handed over to the committee responsible for administering Gaza. This would take place alongside the dismantling of armed groups and the beginning of an Israeli withdrawal from areas currently controlled by its forces.

In a separate development, Israeli reports said Hamas sent an English-language letter to U.S. President Donald Trump approximately two weeks ago, proposing a long-term truce lasting between 15 and 20 years.

According to the reports, Hamas expressed its willingness to support the agreement and address disarmament in exchange for Israel refraining from attacking Gaza or carrying out assassinations, as well as beginning to withdraw its forces from the territory.

Israel, however, reportedly opposes the current proposal, viewing it as an attempt by Hamas to gain time and avoid being accused of violating the agreement reached in October 2025—an accusation Israel could use to justify resuming military operations in Gaza.
