The U.S. military announced that Central Command forces had successfully completed an intensive wave of strikes against Iran in response to attempted missile attacks targeting American forces on Wednesday.
CENTCOM said the operation struck dozens of sites belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defense positions, and naval capabilities.
The command said the strikes were intended to further reduce threats posed by Iran and its allied groups to U.S. forces, commercial shipping and neighboring Gulf states.
Attacks were also reported on Qeshm Island and in the southern city of Abadan, while rescue teams searched for two people trapped beneath the rubble of a house on Qeshm.
