According to Israeli outlet Walla, officials said: “We signed the agreement with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance on one side and Iranian negotiator Abbas Kalibaf on the other.” They added that sanctions and frozen assets will be released in proportion to Iran’s adherence to the deal’s requirements. “Whenever Iran wants to be a normal state, we will welcome it and push in that direction,” the officials stated.
This comes after the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran, ahead of the formal signing ceremony scheduled in Switzerland on Friday. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social the resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, saying oil tankers had begun moving along safe maritime routes.
Reuters reported that the U.S. military blockade of Iranian ports will remain in place until the official signing. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed his country’s decision, coordinated with Washington, to sign the memorandum of understanding on Friday.
Vice President Vance told CNBC the agreement “prevents Iran from obtaining the funds needed to rebuild its nuclear program,” adding that the coming days will reveal Tehran’s willingness to make further concessions. He noted that some Israeli circles view the deal positively, expressing hope that details will be published this week and affirming that “Israel has a place at the table of the new Middle East.”
