The United States military confirmed that its naval blockade on Iran remains fully in place despite escalating Iranian threats and recent confrontations in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces have redirected 58 commercial vessels and disabled four ships since April 13 as part of ongoing maritime operations targeting Iranian shipping activity.

Iranian media reported scattered clashes on Friday between Iranian forces and US naval vessels near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategic shipping routes. Later, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency quoted a military source saying the situation had calmed, while warning that tensions could flare up again at any moment.

The US military also stated that it struck two vessels allegedly linked to Tehran after they attempted to enter an Iranian port. According to the statement, an American fighter jet hit the ships’ smokestacks, forcing both vessels to retreat.

The naval blockade, first imposed by Washington last month, has intensified pressure on Iran’s economy and raised fears of a broader regional escalation as military tensions continue to rise across the Gulf.
