The U.S. military said early Thursday that it had carried out another round of strikes against Iran under the direction of President Donald Trump, extending the attacks to a 12th consecutive night.

U.S. Central Command said the mission would continue to further weaken Iran’s ability to threaten civilian sailors and commercial vessels travelling through regional waters.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said one of three oil tankers caught fire following an explosion as the vessels attempted to cross a route south of the Strait of Hormuz that it described as mined.

The two other tankers turned back, according to the IRGC.

The IRGC said the Strait of Hormuz was under its control and “completely closed” while U.S. activities continued in the region.

It added that no tanker would be allowed to enter or leave through the strait without coordination with Iran.

The statement did not identify the vessels or specify when the incident occurred.
