The negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad ended without reaching an agreement, amid deep disagreements and a clear lack of trust between the two sides. Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the talks addressed sensitive issues such as the nuclear program, the Strait of Hormuz, and sanctions relief, but described the U.S. demands as excessive and unacceptable. It also confirmed that there are currently no plans for a new round of negotiations.

On the other hand, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said that Washington negotiated in good faith and presented the best possible offer, but Iran failed to show any clear commitment to not pursuing nuclear weapons. The main points of contention remain Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile and its role in the Strait of Hormuz, further complicating the situation.

At the same time, Donald Trump warned that any Chinese military support to Iran would have serious consequences, while Israeli assessments suggest that Israel will not confront Iran alone. With this round of talks failing, all scenarios remain open, ranging from potential military escalation to a possible return to negotiations in the future.
