AMMAN, July 19 (Reuters) - The United States Embassy in Jordan announced on Sunday the evacuation of the international airport and port in the southern city of Aqaba due to what it described as a "specific and credible threat."

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the embassy said, "We strongly advise all Americans to avoid traveling to the airport or the port. We urge them to continue following all security directives issued by the Jordanian authorities."

The embassy did not provide further details regarding the exact nature of the threat.

Jordanian authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the matter, and the Kingdom's Minister of Information did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
