Ukrainian drones struck warehouses belonging to Russia’s largest online retailer for the second time in less than a week, as Kyiv expanded its campaign against logistics and economic infrastructure deep inside Russian territory.

The latest attacks hit Wildberries logistics centres in Krasnodar and Nevinnomyssk in southern Russia early Wednesday, triggering large fires and forcing the evacuation of employees.

A young woman died after being taken to hospital, while at least 10 other people were injured. The full extent of the damage across both facilities remained unclear.

Tatyana Kim, the company’s co-founder and chief executive, confirmed that the two logistics centres had been attacked and said employees were evacuated from the buildings.

Wildberries is Russia’s largest e-commerce company and is frequently described as the country’s equivalent of Amazon. Its network of massive warehouses plays a central role in Russia’s consumer and logistics economy.

The latest strikes came four days after Ukrainian drones hit two other Wildberries facilities in Kotovsk and Elektrostal, near Moscow. Eight workers were killed, while fires caused extensive damage and disrupted the company’s operations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the warehouses were involved in supplying the Russian military with drone components, navigation equipment and other materials.

The Kremlin denied that Wildberries handles military supplies, while the company described its employees as civilians carrying out ordinary work.

Ukraine has increasingly targeted logistics hubs, oil depots, refineries and transportation infrastructure inside Russia, arguing that such facilities contribute to financing or supplying Moscow’s war effort.

Zelenskyy also said Ukrainian forces recently struck an oil depot, a tanker and four cargo ships operating in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov.

The expanding attacks have disrupted shipping in the Sea of Azov and forced Russia to consider alternative transportation routes. Ukrainian drones have also reached distant regions, including parts of the Urals and Siberia.

“We are bringing the war back home in a just way,” Zelenskyy said on Wednesday.

Russia said its air defences intercepted and destroyed 242 Ukrainian drones overnight across several regions, including areas near Moscow, Krasnodar, Stavropol and Russian-occupied Crimea, as well as over the Black Sea and Sea of Azov.

The competing claims could not be independently confirmed.

More than four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion, both sides have intensified long-range attacks against military, energy and logistics targets.

Ukraine says its strikes are intended to weaken Russia’s ability to finance and supply the war while increasing pressure on the Kremlin to negotiate.

Civilian casualties have continued rising on both sides. The number of civilians killed or injured during the first half of 2026 increased by 37% compared with the same period last year.

Ukraine Appoints New Military Commander

The escalation coincides with a significant restructuring of Ukraine’s military leadership.

Zelenskyy dismissed General Oleksandr Syrskyi as commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces on Tuesday and appointed Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi as his replacement.

The decision followed days of protests triggered by the removal of Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who had been closely associated with Ukraine’s advances in drone warfare and military technology.

Fedorov later clashed publicly with Syrskyi over the direction of the war and the pace of military reforms, prompting demonstrators to demand the army commander’s dismissal.

Drapatyi has promised to modernise the armed forces, improve accountability and accelerate technological reforms.

The Kremlin dismissed the significance of the appointment, saying the change would not affect developments along the front line and that Russian forces would continue their offensive.

Lavrov and Rubio to Meet in Manila

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio are expected to meet in Manila on Thursday on the sidelines of an ASEAN foreign ministers’ gathering.

Their discussions are expected to focus on the war in Ukraine and escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Lavrov said the meeting would provide an opportunity for both sides to raise questions and receive direct answers.

Rubio is expected to present Washington as seeking a constructive role in efforts to end the Ukraine war, despite continued disagreements between the United States and Russia over the conditions for negotiations.

The meeting comes as diplomatic activity intensifies alongside the expanding military campaign, with neither Moscow nor Kyiv showing signs of reducing operations.
