The Joint Force of armed struggle movements allied with the Sudanese army announced on Sunday that it had destroyed more than 62 combat vehicles belonging to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and seized 54 others during battles in North Kordofan state in central Sudan.

In a statement published by the official Sudan News Agency, the Joint Force said the army and its allied forces had made advances along several operational fronts in the state and taken control of the areas of Umm Qurfah and Jureikh.

The statement added that the clashes resulted in the deaths of a number of RSF members and the withdrawal of others, noting that military equipment left behind by the retreating forces at combat sites had been seized.

Earlier on Sunday, the Sudanese army announced that it had secured control of the export road linking the cities of El Obeid and Omdurman following clashes with the RSF.

The Rapid Support Forces did not immediately comment on the army and Joint Force statements regarding the outcomes of the battles or the reported losses.

The Sudanese army had announced early Sunday that it had recaptured the cities of Bara, Jabra Al-Sheikh, and Umm Sayala in North Kordofan state after fighting with the RSF.

The city of Bara holds strategic importance due to its location on the road connecting the Kordofan and Darfur regions with the capital Khartoum through Omdurman. It had been under RSF control since October 2025.

The states of North, West, and South Kordofan have witnessed ongoing battles between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces since October last year, as part of the wider conflict that has continued between the two sides since April 2023.

The war has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people and the displacement of around 13 million others, according to United Nations and international estimates
