Russian forces launched a large-scale overnight missile and drone attack on Ukraine's capital early Saturday, striking several residential districts in Kyiv and injuring at least 10 people, according to Ukrainian officials.

Emergency crews were seen clearing debris, collecting missile fragments, and responding to damaged buildings as thick smoke rose over parts of the city. Residents spent the morning sweeping shattered glass from homes, vehicles, and courtyards after the strikes.

One local resident and Ukrainian soldier, Oleh Tymoshenko, said the first missile hit the area before air raid sirens sounded. He said a second missile struck about five minutes later while he was taking shelter in a hallway.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said those injured included an 11-year-old boy, with four people taken to hospital for treatment. The attacks affected several districts across the capital, including Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi.

Ukraine's Air Force said Russia launched six Iskander ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and 121 drones during the overnight assault. Air defense systems intercepted many of the incoming threats, though several projectiles reached the city and caused damage.

The latest bombardment comes just days after another Russian strike on Kyiv on July 8 that killed four people, underscoring the continuing escalation of attacks on the Ukrainian capital.
