Russia and Ukraine exchanged accusations on Sunday over alleged violations of a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States, as fighting and drone attacks reportedly continued across the front lines.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukrainian forces launched drone attacks and artillery shelling targeting Russian positions despite the ceasefire. The ministry said Russian air defenses intercepted 57 Ukrainian drones over the past 24 hours.
Moscow stated that Russian forces continued to adhere to the truce but responded “symmetrically” to Ukrainian actions using multiple rocket launch systems and mortar fire.
Meanwhile, Ukraine also accused Russia of violating the ceasefire by carrying out drone strikes and engaging in nearly 150 clashes on the battlefield during the same period.
Reuters said it was unable to independently verify the battlefield reports from either side.
The renewed accusations highlight the fragile nature of the ceasefire efforts amid ongoing fighting between both countries.
