According to senior U.S. officials, Trump is focused on preventing a wider conflict and preserving ongoing diplomatic efforts with Iran, while Netanyahu appears more willing to pursue military escalation against Hezbollah.

The report states that Netanyahu had planned significant strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut but was pressured to reconsider following a tense phone call with Trump. U.S. officials said Trump strongly opposed actions that could destabilize Lebanon and jeopardize negotiations with Tehran.

The disagreement reportedly intensified after Iran warned that further Israeli military actions in Lebanon could affect ongoing talks with Washington and increase regional tensions.

Although Trump and Netanyahu continue to communicate frequently and maintain a close political relationship, officials on both sides acknowledge that differences over Lebanon and the future of diplomacy with Iran have become more visible.

Israeli sources cited by Axios said Netanyahu is concerned that Washington may impose stricter limitations on Israeli military operations in Lebanon. At the same time, U.S. officials worry that Israeli actions could undermine diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions across the region.
