Israeli Army Radio revealed Tuesday that several Israeli soldiers were injured during clashes with Hezbollah fighters north of the Litani River in southern Lebanon over recent days, during a military operation kept under a security blackout until now.

According to the report, elite “Egoz” and “Sayeret Golani” forces carried out an operation lasting nearly a week, crossing the Litani River northward and reaching the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiya, around 10 kilometers from the Lebanese-Palestinian border.

The forces reportedly advanced secretly toward an area Israel claims Hezbollah used to launch rockets and mortar shells at Israeli troops. Several close-range confrontations took place, resulting in injuries among Israeli soldiers.

Israeli Army Radio said one clash erupted after Hezbollah fighters emerged from a tunnel opening north of the Litani River, triggering an intense firefight at very close range. A military dog from the “Oketz” unit was killed during the confrontation.

The report added that heavy armored vehicles, including “Namer” armored personnel carriers from the “Sayeret Golani” unit, crossed the river during the operation. Israeli Army Radio said the mission demonstrated the army’s ability to cross the Litani River and could pave the way for similar future operations if necessary.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 12 reported that “Sayeret Golani” and “Egoz” forces took control of the area after crossing the river. The channel said the operation lasted ten days and aimed to reach areas from which Hezbollah had allegedly launched rockets and drones, as part of preparations to expand the fighting.

In a related development, Israeli Army Radio described a “serious incident” involving a brigade commander who recently allowed Israeli civilians into Lebanese territory. Although the army claimed they were reserve soldiers on active duty, the report said they were actually family members of deceased soldiers, meaning civilians, despite the dangerous conditions.

The station criticized the military’s handling of the incident, saying the army failed to treat it seriously and imposed only minor disciplinary measures without meaningful penalties.

The report also noted that the Israeli military issued no official statement about the incident and provided no details regarding the investigation or its findings.
