urkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that a magnitude 5 earthquake hit Malatya province in southeastern Turkey early Saturday morning.

The earthquake occurred at 6:20 a.m. local time (03:20 GMT), with its epicenter located in the Battalgazi district of Malatya, at a depth of 15.59 kilometers, according to AFAD.

Turkey’s Anadolu Agency reported that residents in neighboring provinces, including Elazig, Adiyaman, Tunceli, and Şanlıurfa, also felt the tremor.

AFAD confirmed that no immediate reports of damage or injuries had been received following the earthquake.

Turkish Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum said: “We have not detected any negative developments, but we are evaluating all reports.”
