On Aprile 14, the italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni decided to stop military cooperation with israeli Occupation Forces and leader Benjamin Netanyahu.

What was this agreement about?

This agreements is about the military collaboration, cyber security, air forces and electronic systems; this agreements was signed on June 16 2003 in Paris and activeted in 2005 after approval by Parliament and allowed the cooperation between the two countries including sharing military materials, intelligense and technology between Italy and Israel.
This agreements is automatically renewed every five years unless one country decide to stop the agreements, this would have been the fourth renewal extending until 2031.

Who opposed this agreements?

A group of 10 legal expert and another oppositions group spoke up against the renewal, in fact, they were concerned about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the fighting in Lebanon involving UNIFIL's forces.
According to an AGI's article, the decision to stop the renewal came during a time of International tension between Italy and israel, in fact, they're in their lowest point in recent years, especially because of the attacks against UNIFIL peacekeepers and the incidents involving italian police and the settlers in the West Bank.

A few hours later, the President of the US Donald Trump called this decisione of Giorgia Meloni a "wrong" and "not usefull decisione” inviting her to think carefully about the future consequences of and for Italy.

One important questione remains: Why Giorgia Meloni did this decisione? Is because for the boycott against Israel, Leonardo and FBK? Or is just a strategy for the 2027 elections? Or the Government has took positions after three years of Genocide, political pressure, protest, criticism of companies who works with Israel's military and intelligence? Or Italy started backstabbing Israel?
