Israeli occupation forces conducted extensive home demolitions across the West Bank on Monday, displacing dozens of Palestinians. The largest operation targeted the town of Bartaa, southwest of Jenin in northern West Bank.  

Bartaa Mayor Ghassan Qabha told Al Jazeera Net that an Israeli court had ordered the demolition of 20 homes in the town’s southern area. Bulldozers arrived Monday morning and demolished six houses by noon, leaving nearly 100 residents homeless.  

In southern West Bank, Israeli forces demolished a house and carpentry workshop in Khirbet Qalqas, south of Hebron. Abdel Rahman Abu Sunina, son of the homeowner, said troops arrived with heavy machinery, demolishing his father Naif Abu Sunina’s two-story, 500-square-meter house, which housed five family members. They also uprooted fruit trees and bulldozed surrounding land and fences.  

These demolitions are part of Israel’s long-standing policy in the occupied West Bank, preventing Palestinians from building in Area C, which covers about 61% of the territory under the Oslo II Accord of 1995. Residents face severe restrictions on obtaining building permits, with Israeli authorities rejecting the vast majority of applications.
