An Israeli court has extended the detention of “Global Sumud Flotilla” activists Thiago Ávila and Saif Abu Keshk until May 5, following their detention during a maritime mission aimed at breaking the blockade on Gaza.


According to available reports, Israeli naval forces intercepted the vessel carrying the two activists in international waters before detaining them, a move that has drawn criticism from rights groups, who say the incident raises concerns under international law.


The activists were part of an international solidarity effort known as the “Global Sumud Flotilla,” which seeks to highlight the humanitarian situation in Gaza and challenge the ongoing blockade imposed on the territory.


The development comes amid continued restrictions on Gaza, as international organizations renew calls for lifting the blockade and ensuring the free movement of people and humanitarian aid.
