Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel is prepared to launch another, even stronger, military operation against Iran if necessary, warning that the Israeli military remains on high alert following renewed U.S. strikes inside Iran.
Speaking during a military ceremony, Katz said Israel is ready to restore its aerial superiority and target what he described as Iranian threats, adding that if Israel is forced to return to combat, it will do so with greater force.
The remarks came as the United States carried out another wave of airstrikes across Iran on Tuesday and Thursday, targeting military sites Washington says are linked to threats against shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
The escalation follows attacks on three commercial vessels in the strategic waterway. The United States blamed Iran for the incidents, although Tehran has not claimed responsibility.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that the strikes were a direct response to the attacks on the ships, warning that any further incidents would lead to a much stronger response.
According to The New York Times, citing U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces have struck more than 170 military targets across Iran over the past two days in an effort to weaken Tehran's ability to threaten maritime security.
