Gaza – Medical sources at Al-Shifa Hospital reported the death of a child who had suffered burns to approximately 90% of his body, in one of the most severe cases received during recent escalations.

According to Australian doctor Nada Abu Al-Rob, who was part of the medical team, the child remained alive for a period despite the extent of his injuries, as doctors continued attempts to stabilize his condition. She noted that the case was critical from the outset, with limited chances of survival due to the severity of the burns.

Medical staff indicated that the team proceeded with treatment efforts despite the prognosis, reflecting the standard protocol in handling extreme burn cases, particularly in emergency conditions with constrained resources.

The child later succumbed to his injuries. Following his death, hospital staff coordinated with the family, who requested a final viewing before burial.

Sources described the case as indicative of the challenges facing medical teams in Gaza, where hospitals are dealing with high numbers of critical injuries amid shortages of medical supplies and equipment.
