A large fire broke out on Friday at the Petropalayesh refinery complex in the city of Pol-e Dokhtar in western Iran, with firefighters struggling to contain the blaze due to its intensity and rapid spread.

According to Iran's Tasnim News Agency, thick smoke began rising from the area shortly after 5:00 p.m. local time, drawing attention to the industrial site where the fire erupted.

The fire reportedly started within a small oil refinery. Emergency crews were immediately dispatched, but the highly flammable materials at the facility made it difficult for firefighters to reach the center of the blaze.

Authorities said the priority has been preventing the flames from spreading to other sections of the refinery while continuing firefighting operations under strict safety measures.

Multiple firefighting teams, rescue personnel, and heavy equipment remain at the scene. No casualties or the cause of the fire have been officially reported.
