Cuba Accuses US of Fabricating Case for Military Action

Cuba faces a severe fuel crisis due to US sanctions, with rolling blackouts disrupting hospitals, transport, and waste collection. Shortages of food and medicine have triggered rare public dissent against the communist government.

The Trump administration has escalated pressure, with surveillance flights and troop build-ups near Cuba. CIA Director John Ratcliffe demanded Havana stop serving as a “safe haven” for adversaries. Reports also suggested plans to indict former leader Raúl Castro, echoing the indictment used to justify the raid on Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro.

Trump has framed US policy through a revival of the Monroe Doctrine, rebranded as the “Donroe Doctrine,” asserting US dominance in the Western Hemisphere. He has openly threatened Cuba, declaring it could be “next” after Venezuela.

Meanwhile, Cuba’s reliance on allies like Venezuela has weakened since Maduro’s capture, leaving Havana more vulnerable to sanctions and isolation. The crisis has deepened public hardship, while US officials continue to portray Cuba as a regional threat.
